The Greenwich Parents as Teachers (GPAT) program is a key component of the Greenwich United Way’s Early Childhood Achievement Gap Solutions (ECAGS) program. Through ongoing education and support services, GPAT helps parents manage the challenges and uncertainty associated with bringing a new baby into the world.
HOME VISITATION
The Greenwich Parents as Teachers program utilizes the nationally-recognized, evidence-based Parents as Teachers (PAT) curriculum to provide parents the skills needed to foster their children’s social-emotional and physical development. Services are administered by trained Parent Educators through regular home visits, which focus on parenting education, strengthening the mother-child bond and establishing community connections. The PAT curriculum’s 30 years of proven results indicate that participating children have higher levels of success in school readiness and long-term achievement.
WHO’S ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
Greenwich Parents as Teachers is open to all parents living in Greenwich.* Participants may begin receiving services during the prenatal stages, and can continue until their children are three-years-old. All services administered by Greenwich Parents as Teachers are voluntary and free of charge thanks to the Greenwich United Way.
*To qualify for Greenwich Parents as Teachers, income eligibility requirements must be met.
