Family Centers Acquires New Downtown Stamford Location
STAMFORD, CONN. (July 18, 2024) – To accommodate its continued growth, Family Centers has announced the purchase of a building at 986 Bedford Street in Stamford. Situated in the heart of downtown and convenient to public transportation, the new location makes the organization’s services more accessible for the city’s children, adults and families.
The 18,600 square foot building is more than twice the size of Family Centers’ current offices at 60 Palmer’s Hill Road, and will house a large portion of its human service, education and mental health programs. Group meeting space will also be available for enhanced literacy education, job readiness support, group therapy and parenting education services.
“Over the past 10 years, Family Centers has greatly expanded its holistic network of services to keep pace with our community’s growing needs,” said CEO Bob Arnold. “Having a home base in downtown allows us to offer a wide array of health, education and human service programs under one roof and improve the overall experience for Stamford’s residents.”
Since its founding in 1891, Family Centers has continually adapted to meet the growing demands of its diverse programs. In recent years, the organization has doubled its clinical staff to tackle the ongoing mental health crisis, expanded school-based medical and mental health services, and enhanced programs in maternal education, parental support, English-language instruction and vocational coaching.
A grand opening is expected in Fall 2024.
