School Based Health Centers

Located in five middle and high schools in Stamford, the School Based Health Centers (SBHC) provide medical assessments, physicals, screenings, dental care, mental health counseling and other services to 4,200 students each year.

School Based Health Centers are located at Stamford High School, Westhill High School, Dolan Middle School/Toquam Elementary School, Rippowam Middle School/AITE High School and Cloonan Middle School. Another clinic is located at Kids in Crisis Youth Shelter in Greenwich.

It is the mission of the SBHC to help students learn about practices that promote their health and well-being.  Each center emphasizes early identification and intervention to prevent serious physical and mental health concerns.  A health educator also works with each clinic to provide lifestyle coaching, prevention services and health training to students and parents.

The Centers are licensed by the State of Connecticut, and are staffed by nurse practitioners, licensed social workers, medical assistants and dental professionals that specialize in child/adolescent health.  For more information, contact Dennis Torres at 203-977-4848.
