On Saturday, Dec. 8, Family Centers and Toyota of Stamford have planned a holiday fundraising event sure to get your heart racing.
To help raise funds to purchase holiday gifts and basic living necessities for Fairfield County’s neediest families, members of Family Centers’ Associate Board will join Toyota of Stamford employees and members of the community in a marathon relay.
Beginning at noon at Toyota of Stamford, located at 20 Myrtle Ave. in Stamford, teams of runners will take to the several treadmills set up in the dealership’s showroom to tackle the 26.2 mile marathon distance.
Fitness professionals from The Training Floor in Stamford will be on hand to provide participants and attendees with body fat screenings, heart rate monitoring and fitness instruction. Melt Mobile will also sell their famous grilled cheese sandwiches, with 10 percent benefiting the “Miracle on Myrtle”.
Runners are currently soliciting pledges, which can be made securely online at http://www.familycenters.org/products/index.php?type=1039. All funds raised will benefit Toyota of Stamford’s annual “Miracle on Myrtle” holiday gift drive. This year, the program will benefit families assisted by Family Centers.
Those interested in starting a team or running on an existing team should contact Bill Brucker at bbrucker@familycenters.org or 203-869-4848.
Casey’s Tavern, located at 85 Woodside St. in Stamford, will host a post-relay party beginning at 6 p.m. Bottomless cups of Miller Lite will be on sale for $5, with all proceeds benefitting the “Miracle on Myrtle”. The event will also feature a 50/50 drawing and live music.
