Fairfield County Community Foundation Grant Supports Teen Mothers
Thanks to the generosity of the Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF), teenage parents living in Stamford will continue to receive the care and support they need.
The FCCF recently awarded Family Centers' Young Parents Program (YPP) with a $20,000 grant. The money will fund services designed to support pregnant teens and young mothers as they transition into their roles as parents. In addition to providing prenatal/parenting education and support, YPP clinicians help young parents further their educational and vocation goals.
"We are extremely grateful to receive this grant," said Eluisa Brunetto, YPP coordinator. "Community partners like the Fairfield County Community Foundation allow the Young Parents Program to continue impacting the lives of young parents and their children."
This year's Fund for Women and Girls grants provided more than $305,000 to 18 nonprofit organizations that serve women and girls living in Fairfield County. Grants were awarded to agencies with programs that help girls develop life and leadership skills and self esteem, and help low-income working women find affordable housing and achieve financial stability.
The Fairfield County Community Foundation promotes the growth of community and regional philanthropy to improve the quality of life throughout Fairfield County. Individuals, families, corporations and organizations can establish charitable funds and contribute to existing funds. It is in compliance with the Council on Foundations' national standards for community foundations. The Fairfield County Community Foundation merged with the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation in January 2008. The merged Foundation's net assets approach $150 million. The combined history includes over $90 million in grantmaking to nonprofits in Fairfield County and beyond. For more information, visit http://www.fccfoundation.org/.
