Help Someone in Need This Holiday Season 

While the recent economic downturn may have forced us to scale back our holiday plans this year, many low-income families across lower Fairfield County will forgo the holidays in favor of meeting their basic living expenses.  Please help Family Centers give these families the holiday season they deserve. 

There are many ways you can help a family this holiday season.  Below are just a few of the ways Family Centers is working to make this time of year easier for those in need of help.

Thanksgiving/Christmas basket collection/food drive: In order to meet the growing need in the community, Family Centers is looking to feed as many families as possible this Thanksgiving and Christmas. We are looking to collect care packages that contain the following: instant mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, canned vegetable, cranberry sauce, apple juice and/or cranberry juice, macaroni & cheese and a voucher/gift card for $10-$15 to Stop & Shop or Shop Rite to purchase a turkey. If you're interested in making a Thanksgiving care package, all items must be dropped off at 40 Arch Street in Greenwich by noon on Monday, November 23.

Adopt-a-Family: Family Centers' staff submit families for consideration who might not otherwise receive gifts. Family Centers' Holiday Giving Committee will work with community partners to get as many families adopted as possible.

Program Wish Lists: As the holidays approach, Family Centers will amass a "Wish List" of gifts clients are seeking.  The list will be posted on www.familycenters.org. Some examples of gifts might include: baby gates, diapers, wipes, infant toys for the Nurturing Families Network. Each individual classroom at Family Centers will also be compiling a wish list that will be posted at each location and send out to all families who might like to make a contribution to their child's classroom.
