Family Centers Tackles Issue of Poverty

ImageAfter nearly a decade of decline, the number of children living in low-income families has once again begun to rise.  To call attention to the challenges low-income children face today, Family Centers participated in a panel discussion hosted by Save the Children's Greenwich Leadership Council.

Held January 12 at the Cos Cob Library, the panel assembled community experts familiar with the more prominent health, educational and social issues affecting poverty-stricken families.  Director of Self Sufficiency Services Donna Spellman outlined the programs Family Centers offers to assist low-income families - particularly those that reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect.

Along with Family Centers, representatives from the Waterside School in Stamford and Save the Children's U.S. Programs also weighed in on this important issue.
