Fairfield County SAFE KIDS Donate Car Seats to Family Centers Clients
Thanks to the generosity of the Fairfield County SAFE KIDS Coalition, local families can be sure their young children are properly buckled up when they hit the road.
As part of an ongoing partnership, the Fairfield County SAFE KIDS Coalition donated 50 brand new car seats to Family Centers. The seats were given to clients of Nurturing Families, Young Parents Program and Reaching Independence Through Employment (RITE) - Family Centers' initiatives providing parenting and self-sufficiency services. Fairfield County SAFE KIDS also sponsored a car seat safety training for Family Centers staff.
Last summer, Fairfield County SAFE KIDS and Family Centers teamed up to hold a "Wheeled Sports Safety Program" at Wilbur Peck Court in Greenwich. The event educated families living in public housing complexes about the importance of bike - as well as skateboard, scooter and rollerblade - safety.
The Fairfield County SAFE KIDS Coalition (FCSK), as part of a broader national initiative exists to provide education, programming and advocacy to help reduce unintentional injury to children ages 14 and under. Unintentional Injury claims more lives and permanently disables more children than all other childhood causes combined; many of these injuries are preventable through well coordinated programs such as those provided by Fairfield County SAFE KIDS. FCSK Coalition has focused its efforts on children and families in Fairfield County, with a special emphasis on those at the highest risk and with the greatest potential need.
