School Based Health Centers
Located in six middle and high schools in Stamford, the School Based Health Centers (SBHC) provide medical assessments, physicals, screenings, dental care, mental health counseling and other services to 1,900 students each year.
It is the mission of the SBHC to help students learn about practices that promote their health and well-being. Each center emphasizes early identification and intervention to prevent serious physical and mental health concerns.
The Centers are licensed by the State of Connecticut, and are staffed by nurse practioners, medical assistants and dental professionals that specialize in child/adolescent health. For more information, contact

Primary services include:
- Treatment of acute injuries and illnesses (such as colds, ear infections, sore throats and skin problems)
- Routine check-ups
- Physical examinations
- Immunizations
- Prescription and dispensing of medication
- Laboratory testing
- Diagnosis and treatment of sexually-transmitted diseases
- Nutrition counseing and weight management
- Crisis intervention
- Individual, family and group counseling
- Dental care
- Referral and follow-up for specialty care
