Center for HOPE To Hold Panel Discussion on HPV More than six million women each year are infected with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) – a sexually transmitted disease that can lead to genital warts and cervical cancer if left untreated. To provide women with the facts on HPV and how they can protect themselves, the Center for HOPE will host a special panel discussion on Thursday, May 17 at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the First Congregational Church, 14 Brookside Road in Darien. Frances W. Ginsburg, M.D., interim chair of Stamford Hospital’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Dorothy A. Levine, M.D., a partner with New England Pediatrics, will serve as guest speakers. Drs. Ginsburg and Levine will discuss HPV, who is at risk and how the disease is treated. They will also talk about GARDASIL, a new vaccine designed to protect girls and young women from developing HPV. The event is free, and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register call the Center for HOPE at 203-655-4693.
