October 13, 2006 "Breast Cancer Survivors to Share Experiences at the Center for Hope"
ImageTo commemorate National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and provide women with information on how to prevent the disease, the Center for Hope will host a special symposium on Monday, Oct. 23 at 9:30 a.m.

The event will feature a panel discussion consisting of several breast cancer survivors.  Panelists will talk openly about their diagnoses and treatment to inspire and help others understand the disease.  The importance of early detection will also be discussed.

The symposium coincides with “Faces of Light: Stories from Breast Cancer Survivors”, a photo exhibit by local artist Ben Larrabee currently on display throughout Darien.  Together with exhibit organizers Sharon Kratochvil and Pam Zangrillo, Larrabee created a powerful exhibit featuring the photos and personal stories of 22 breast cancer survivors.

The symposium will be moderated by Zangrillo and Center for Hope clinician Gail Streisand, Ph.D.  The event is free, but registration is required due to space limitations.  For more information or to register, call Pam Zangrillo at 203-655-3225 or the Center for Hope at 203-655-4693.

The “Faces of Light: Stories From Breast Cancer Survivors” symposium and exhibit are part of Paint the Town Pink, a month-wide awareness campaign sponsored by Stamford Hospital and the Darien Chamber of Commerce.  For more information, visit www.paintthetownpink.org
