Family Centers to Host Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center on April 7
Of the nearly 210,000 new cases of breast cancer in 2010, one-third were diagnosed in the later stages. According to the American Cancer Association, regular mammograms and self checks are the best way to detect breast cancer at its onset.
On Thursday, April 7 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m., the Family Centers will host Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center at its 590 Post Road location in Darien. The Mobile Wellness Center will offer mammograms and bone density screenings for all women in the community. Family Centers will also provide refreshments.
Screenings in Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center are open to all women in the community. Most health insurance plans are accepted, and a sliding scale fee is also available. Space is limited, however, so appointments are necessary. Call Stamford Hospital Mobile Wellness at 203-276-5990 to make an appointment.
Making simple lifestyle changes and undergoing routine medical screenings can greatly reduce the risk of developing cancer and other serious illnesses. By utilizing the latest in digital technology, Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center promotes early detection practices for heart disease, breast cancer and osteoporosis.
The Stamford Hospital's Mobile Wellness Center visit is made possible by Family Centers' Hearts of Hope program, an education and prevention initiative focusing on heart disease. Hearts of Hope offers individual counseling, family/caregivers counseling and support groups to help cardiac patients and their families cope with the psychological issues associated with heart disease.
