Family Centers Honors Koons, Campbell
At its 122nd Annual Meeting on Oct. 22, Family Centers recognized a longtime Board Member with whose contributions were instrumental in its growth. The agency also honored a local business leader for his dedication to helping families in need.
During his tenure on the Board of Directors, Darien resident Kip Koons’ guidance and thoughtful advice has been a driving force behind Family Centers’ continuous growth over the past 25 years. An expert in the field of mergers and acquisitions, he has helped facilitate the six mergers that have made Family Centers the diverse and trusted community resource it is today. Koons has also served on the agency’s nominating, finance /investment and various program committees, all while raising funds and awareness for Family Centers.
To thank him for his many contributions to the agency, Family Centers presented Koons with the 2013 Helen Gratz Rockefeller Outstanding Volunteerism Award. The award is presented annually to a member of the Family Centers Board of Directors, and is the agency’s highest honor for volunteer work.
“Kip has been part of the bulwark that has kept our agency strong and growing for the past 25 years,” said Joan Jan Dilenschneider, a former Board Chairman and past recipient of the award. “His careful scrutiny and attention to detail has led to the successful outcomes we have experienced.”
Toyota of Stamford’s General Sales Manager Brandon Campbell was also named the 2013 Family Champion. For the past several years, Brandon, of Stamford, has worked to ensure that Toyota of Stamford’s community outreach efforts benefit Family Centers’ most vulnerable populations. Whether he’s collecting holiday gifts for families in need or organizing fundraising events to create a preschool scholarship fund, Campbell has made it his mission to give back to the community in which he lives and works.
“Over the past three years, Brandon has secured more than $10,000 in gifts for families who would not have otherwise enjoyed a happy holiday season,” said Bob Arnold, President of Family Centers. “His boundless enthusiasm, creativity and unquestionable commitment to helping others is an inspiration. My hope is that it is contagious and that other members of the business community follow his lead.”
