Stamford CARES Director Named to National Board
Communities Advocating Emergency AIDS Relief (CAEAR) Coalition recently elected Dennis Torres, director of Family Centers' Stamford CARES program, to its board of directors.
As one of the nation's foremost HIV/AIDS advocacy groups, the CAEAR Coalition aims to enhance efforts related to healthcare reform and strengthening HIV prevention efforts with HIV care systems. The organization also works closely with the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program to raise funds and awareness for the fight against the virus.
A program of Family Centers, Stamford CARES offers a host of counseling and education services to help children and adults with HIV/AIDS lead healthier, more productive lives. The program is staffed by trained therapists, family counselors and medical case workers. Services include case management, emergency financial assistance, support groups and referral services.
The Communities Advocating Emergency AIDS Relief (CAEAR) Coalition is a national membership organization which advocates for federal appropriations, legislation, policy and regulations to meet the care, treatment, support service and prevention needs of people living with HIV/AIDS and the organizations that serve them. CAEAR Coalition's proactive national leadership is focused on the Ryan White Program as a central part of the nation's response to HIV/AIDS. CAEAR Coalition's members include Ryan White Program Part A, Part B, Part C and Part F consumers, grants and providers.
