Volunteers Spend Summer Strengthening the Community
There are lots of new faces at Family Centers this summer! Rather than spending their summers on the beach or at the pool, more than 50 high school and college students have volunteered their time to help strengthen Family Centers' programs.
With 30 unique programs that serve the communities of lower Fairfield County, Family Centers prides itself on the breadth of opportunities available to volunteers. Whether they're assisting teachers implement classroom exercises in our Early Childhood Education Program, facilitating a Friendly Connections teleconference group for seniors or acting as a Young Parents Program mentor for a teenager as she transitions into motherhood, volunteers are assured an exciting an worthwhile experience.
Several adults, many of whom have special talents in art and cooking, have also volunteered in Family Centers' preschool classrooms this summer to enhance the program's already enriching curriculum. Family Centers also offers a variety of internships, and many students have taken advantage of opportunities in the areas of PR/Communications, office management and senior services. We've even had a volunteer from as far away as Poland!
Family Centers thanks all of its summer volunteers for their hours of selfless work and dedication to helping Family Centers realize its mission of empowering children, adults, families and communities to realize their potential.
Thank you.
